Louis Vuitton relaunches iconic Takashi Murakami collection

French luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has once again teamed up with renowned Japanese artist-designer Takashi Murakami for an extensive re-edition of the original iconic collection which was released two decades ago and revolutionized the fashion world.

The re-envisioned capsule comprises of more than 200 pieces of the house's most beloved creations such as clutches, wallets, accessories, travel luggage and shoes. Adding an enchanting touch to the collection are Murakami's beloved character Superflat Panda appearing on silk scarves, skateboards, key rings and the Superflat Garden motif of smiley flowers featured on perfume bottles.

At the core of the collection is the groundbreaking reinterpretation of Louis Vuitton's iconic Monogram introduced by then-artistic director Marc Jacobs in 2003 and has now been rendered in 33 vivid colors. The vivacious spirit of the collection is brought to life in a kaleidoscopic campaign starring House Ambassador Zendaya.

Murakami's designs are known for their joyful interplay of art and craftsmanship, blending pop culture and traditional Japanese art forms like Nihonga, sci fi, anime and kawaii characters. He is best known for his collaborations with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.

The Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection will be available in two parts, with the first chapter having released worldwide on January 1 while a second chapter featuring Murakami's Cherry Blossom motif, will debut in March.
