New York-based designer
Zac Posen has reportedly been tapped to revive the Charles James fashion label.
In May of 2014 the Weinstein Company had announced plans to revive the legendary American couture label after it acquired the brand from the designer's estate. Harvey Weinstein named his wife, Marchesa Designer Georgina Chapman and her brother Marchesa CEO Edward Chapman, to serve as creative consultants at the new company but did not reveal who the designer would be at the time.
Charles James (18 July 1906 – 23 September 1978) was known as "America's First Couturier" and considered to have been a master of cutting. He was known for his well-tailored, sculptural gowns and his highly structured aesthetic. Posen seems to be the perfect fit to revitalize the brand with his exquisite ball gowns and his many talents. Style.com predicted that Posen was like a spiritual descendant to the late designer.
Combining the creative talents of the Marchesa Group and Posens brilliance the Charles James brand could well be on its way to a remarkable return to Fashion.
