Newsmaker Of The Week : Caitlyn Jenner

Our Newsmaker this week is Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as as Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner.

After coming clean about becoming a woman on an interview with ABC News’ Diane Sawyer in April, Jenner is continuing to make history since Monday's release of Vanity Fair cover, which introduced the world to her new look in which she discusses her transition.

Shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz at Jenner's Malibu home and interviewed by Pulitzer Prize-winning contributing editor and author of 'Friday Night Lights' Buzz Bissinger the 22-page cover story features stunning photos of Caitlyn Jenner along with revealing new details of the former olympian's path to becoming Caitlyn. "If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life",Jenner tells Buzz Bissinger.

Caitlyn who has a new Twitter account racked up more than 1 million followers in a few hours, a new Twitter record, and had more than 2 million as of Friday. "I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me." she tweeted.

While Kris Jenner is reportedly "jealous" (of her former husband) Caitlyn Jenner's fame and success, the public transformation of Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn has been, by all accounts, a smashing success. Jenner quickly became the most prominent transgender woman. Her cover profile and photo spread in Vanity Fair were greeted with rave reviews and she has been lauded as a fabulous role model for others struggling with their nature. According to Google, there were more than 10 million searches of “Caitlyn Jenner,” seven times more than Kim Kardashian, who announced she was pregnant for a second time.

Caitlyn Jenner is scheduled to make her first major public appearance at next month’s ESPY Awards, where she’ll receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. She is also starring in an upcoming reality show on E! called I Am Cait. According to Page Six, the Miss USA Pageant has made Caitlyn an offer to be a judge at this year’s event tasked with helping to narrow down the top 15 contestants.

Caitlyn has stated Laverne Cox, Janet Mock, Geena Rocero and Carmen Carrera to be her 'pioneers' in the transgender community, and as part of her transition, has recently begun hosting 'girls nights' where she could dress as desired and be at ease with friends. On Saturday, she shared a photo with pals who appear to make up her support group, giving fans and followers a first glance of her inner circle. 'Learn from those who have walked the path before you,' she captioned the snap showing only the backs her pals' bodies.
