Zhou Yubo is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. He is best known for his documentary-style photographs of everyday life in China, which often focus on the lives of ordinary people.
Born in Beijing in 1982, Zhou Yubo began his career as a photographer at the age of 18. After graduating from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, he began to work as a freelance photographer and has since become one of the most prominent photographers in China. His work has been featured in numerous publications, including Time Magazine, The New York Times, and National Geographic.
In addition to his documentary photography, Zhou Yubo also creates art installations and video works that explore themes such as identity and memory. His works have been exhibited at galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Tate Modern in London.
Zhou Yubo's work has earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious Prix Pictet Award for Photography (2012) and the International Center for Photography Infinity Award (2013). He has also been honored with fellowships from organizations such as Magnum Photos and World Press Photo.
Zhou Yubo continues to live and work in Beijing, where he is currently working on a new series of photographs exploring contemporary Chinese culture.
