Zhang Chao is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. He is best known for his unique and captivating images of everyday life in China.
Born in Beijing in 1985, Zhang Chao developed an interest in photography at an early age. He began taking pictures of his family and friends, as well as the city around him. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing to study photography and visual arts.
During his time at the academy, Zhang Chao developed a passion for capturing the beauty of everyday life in China. His work often focuses on the people and places that make up Chinese culture, such as street scenes, markets, festivals, and traditional architecture. He has also traveled extensively throughout China to capture its diverse landscapes and cultures.
Zhang Chao's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including shows at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, The National Gallery of Victoria (Australia), The Museum of Modern Art (New York), and The Victoria & Albert Museum (London). His photographs have also been published in magazines such as National Geographic and Time Magazine.
In addition to his photographic work, Zhang Chao is also an active member of the Chinese art community. He has served as a judge for several international photography competitions and has lectured on photography at universities across China. He currently works as a freelance photographer for various publications and organizations around the world.
