Zeng Wu is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. He is best known for his unique approach to photography, which combines traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern digital techniques.
Born in Beijing in 1982, Zeng Wu began his career as a photographer in 2004. He studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, where he developed an interest in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. After graduating, he began to explore the possibilities of combining these traditional art forms with modern digital photography.
In 2008, Zeng Wu held his first solo exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, showcasing his unique style of photography. Since then, he has exhibited his work around the world, including at the Tate Modern in London and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. His work has also been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue China and Harper’s Bazaar China.
Zeng Wu’s photographs often feature elements of traditional Chinese culture such as landscapes, architecture and calligraphy. He often uses digital manipulation to create surreal images that explore themes such as identity and memory. His work has been praised for its ability to capture both the beauty and complexity of contemporary Chinese culture.
In addition to his photographic work, Zeng Wu is also an active member of the Beijing art scene. He regularly participates in group exhibitions and workshops throughout China and abroad. He is also a founding member of the Beijing Photography Association, which promotes contemporary photography from China’s capital city.
