Yu Cong is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. He was born in 1985 and graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2009.
Yu Cong's work focuses on the relationship between people and their environment, exploring the boundaries between reality and fiction. His photographs often feature surreal elements, such as distorted perspectives, unexpected juxtapositions, and dreamlike scenes. He has exhibited his work internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai, the National Art Museum of China in Beijing, and the International Center of Photography in New York City.
In addition to his photography practice, Yu Cong is also an active member of the Chinese art community. He has served as a jury member for several international photography competitions and has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and TIME Magazine. He is also a founding member of the Beijing-based photography collective "The Photographers".
Yu Cong's work has been recognized with numerous awards including the Prix Pictet Award for Photography (2015), the Foam Paul Huf Award (2016), and the Prix de la Photographie Paris (2017). His photographs are held in public collections around the world including those of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and The Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
