Yoshiaki Sekine is a Japanese photographer and visual artist based in Tokyo. He is best known for his unique and captivating photographs of everyday life in Japan.
Sekine was born in Tokyo in 1975 and grew up surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city. After graduating from high school, Sekine attended Tokyo University of the Arts where he studied photography and visual arts.
In 2000, Sekine began his professional career as a freelance photographer. His work has been featured in numerous publications including Vogue Japan, GQ Japan, and Harper’s Bazaar Japan. He has also exhibited his work at galleries around the world including the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, The Photographers’ Gallery London, and The International Center of Photography New York.
