Yang Yi is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. He is best known for his work exploring the relationship between humans and nature, as well as his unique approach to documentary photography.
Born in Beijing in 1982, Yang Yi developed an interest in photography at an early age. He studied photography at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, graduating with a degree in photography and video art. After graduation, he began working as a freelance photographer, shooting for various magazines and newspapers.
In 2008, Yang Yi was awarded the prestigious Chinese Contemporary Art Award for his work exploring the relationship between humans and nature. His photographs have been exhibited around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa.
In addition to his photographic work, Yang Yi has also produced several short films that explore similar themes. His films have been screened at numerous international film festivals, including Cannes Film Festival and Sundance Film Festival.
Yang Yi's work has been widely praised by critics for its unique approach to documentary photography and its ability to capture moments of beauty within everyday life.
