Wing Shya is a Hong Kong-based photographer, filmmaker, and artist. He is best known for his work in the music industry, having photographed some of the most iconic album covers of the past two decades.

Born in Hong Kong in 1965, Wing Shya grew up surrounded by art and culture. His father was a painter and his mother was a calligrapher, so it was only natural that he would develop an interest in the arts. After graduating from high school, he attended the Hong Kong Polytechnic University where he studied graphic design.

In 1989, Wing Shya began his career as a photographer when he started working for a local magazine. His work quickly gained recognition and soon he was shooting for some of the biggest names in music including Jay-Z, Bjork, and The Rolling Stones. He has also worked with fashion designers such as Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen.

In addition to his photography work, Wing Shya has also directed several music videos for artists such as Bjork and The Chemical Brothers. He has also directed several feature films including "The Way We Are" (2008) and "The Grandmaster" (2013).

Wing Shya's photography has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. His work has been published in magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, and Esquire. In 2017 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Hong Kong Polytechnic University for his contributions to photography and filmmaking.
