Tommaso Gesuato is an Italian photographer and visual artist based in Milan. He has been working in the field of photography since the early 2000s, and his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications around the world.
Gesuato was born in Milan, Italy, in 1979. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, where he graduated with honors in 2004. After graduating, he began to work as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. Gesuato's photography focuses on fashion and portraiture. He often uses natural light to create a dreamy atmosphere that captures the beauty of his subjects. His work is characterized by its strong sense of composition and color palette. He also experiments with digital manipulation to create surreal images that explore themes such as identity and memory.
In addition to his commercial work, Gesuato has also created several personal projects over the years. These projects have been exhibited at galleries around Europe including the Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan, the Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa in Venice, and the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin. His work has also been featured at international festivals such as Les Rencontres d'Arles (France), PhotoEspaña (Spain), and Photolux (Italy).
Gesuato's photographs have been collected by several institutions including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and The National Gallery of Modern Art (GNAM) in Rome. In 2020 he was awarded a fellowship from The British Council for his project “The Memory of Water” which explores how water shapes our lives through its physical presence or absence from our environment.
Tommaso Gesuato continues to push boundaries with his photography while exploring themes related to identity, memory, nature, and humanity's relationship with its environment.
