Tom Ford is an American fashion designer, filmmaker, and photographer. He is best known for his work as the creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent.
Ford was born in Austin, Texas in 1961. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he studied architecture and interior design. After graduating in 1984, he moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion.
Ford began his career as an intern at Perry Ellis before moving on to become the creative director of Gucci in 1994. During his tenure at Gucci, Ford was credited with reviving the brand's fortunes and transforming it into one of the world's most successful luxury labels. He left Gucci in 2004 to launch his own fashion label, Tom Ford.
In addition to his work as a fashion designer, Ford has also directed several films including A Single Man (2009) and Nocturnal Animals (2016). He has also established himself as a photographer, shooting campaigns for brands such as Louis Vuitton and Bulgari. His photography has been featured in publications such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
