Sylvie Colless is an Australian photographer and visual artist based in Sydney. She is best known for her evocative and emotive images of the Australian landscape, which often feature a strong sense of atmosphere and emotion.
Colless was born in Sydney in 1965, and grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Australian bush. She developed an early interest in photography, and began taking pictures of her surroundings as a young girl. After completing high school, she studied photography at the University of New South Wales, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
In the early 1990s, Colless began to focus on landscape photography, travelling around Australia to capture its unique beauty. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including at the National Gallery of Australia and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. She has also published several books featuring her photographs, including ‘The Landscape Within’ (2005) and ‘The Edge of Light’ (2009).
Colless’s work has been widely praised for its ability to capture the essence of Australia’s natural beauty. Her photographs often feature a strong sense of atmosphere and emotion that speaks to viewers on a deep level. In addition to her photographic work, Colless also teaches workshops on landscape photography around Australia.
