Susanne Stemmer is a German photographer and visual artist based in Berlin. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Born in 1972, Susanne grew up in a small town near Munich, Germany. She developed an early interest in photography, which she pursued throughout her teenage years. After graduating from high school, she moved to Berlin to study photography at the University of Applied Sciences. During her studies, she developed a passion for documentary photography and began to focus on capturing the everyday life of people living in urban environments.

In 2000, Susanne began exhibiting her work at galleries across Europe. Her photographs have since been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Der Spiegel. In addition to her photographic work, Susanne has also created video installations and multimedia projects that explore themes of identity and belonging.

In recent years, Susanne has become increasingly interested in exploring the relationship between humans and nature through her work. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe to capture images of landscapes and wildlife that reflect our changing relationship with the natural world. Her photographs have been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Tate Modern in London.

Today, Susanne continues to create powerful images that challenge viewers to think about their place within our ever-changing world. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Best Documentary Series (2015) and the Sony World Photography Award (2016).
