Stanislaw Bobrowiec Bonieck was a Polish photographer and photojournalist who was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1925. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and began his career as a freelance photographer in the 1950s.
He quickly gained recognition for his work, which focused on documenting everyday life in Poland during the post-war period. His photographs captured the struggles of everyday people, as well as the beauty of the country’s landscapes and architecture. He also documented important events such as Pope John Paul II’s visit to Poland in 1979.
In addition to his work as a photographer, Stanislaw was also an active member of the Polish Photographic Society and served as its president from 1975 to 1980. During this time, he helped to promote photography both within Poland and abroad.
Throughout his career, Stanislaw received numerous awards for his work including the Gold Medal from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) in 1978 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Warsaw in 1981. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 77 but his legacy lives on through his photographs which are still widely admired today.
