Ásta Kristjánsdóttir is an Icelandic photographer and visual artist. Born in Reykjavík, Iceland in 1975, Ásta has been creating art since she was a child. She studied photography at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and graduated with a degree in photography in 2000.

Since then, Ásta has become one of Iceland's most renowned photographers. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including the Reykjavík Art Museum, The Photographers' Gallery in London, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. She has also had her work published in several books and magazines such as Vogue Italia and National Geographic.

Ásta's photography focuses on capturing the beauty of nature and its relationship to humanity. Her work often features landscapes from her native Iceland as well as other parts of Europe and North America. She also explores themes such as identity, memory, and belonging through her photographs.

In addition to her photographic work, Ásta is also an active member of the Icelandic art community. She is a founding member of the Icelandic Photography Association (IPA) and serves on its board of directors. She is also a frequent lecturer at universities around Europe on topics related to photography and visual arts.

Ásta's work has been recognized with numerous awards including the IPA Award for Best Photography Book (2009), The Hasselblad Foundation Grant (2010), The Icelandic Art Prize (2011), and The Nordic Council Nature & Environment Prize (2013).

Today, Ásta continues to create stunning photographs that capture both nature's beauty and humanity's connection to it.
