Sophie Muller is an award-winning photographer and director who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, fashion, and film. She has directed music videos for artists such as Beyoncé, Coldplay, and Rihanna, as well as commercials for brands like Nike and Adidas.
Muller was born in London in 1971. She studied photography at the University of Westminster before beginning her career as a freelance photographer in the early 1990s. Her work quickly gained recognition from publications such as The Face and i-D Magazine.
In 1997, Muller made her directorial debut with the music video for Blur's "Song 2". This video won her an MTV Video Music Award for Best Breakthrough Video. Since then she has gone on to direct videos for some of the biggest names in music including Beyoncé's "Crazy In Love", Coldplay's "Viva La Vida", and Rihanna's "Umbrella".
Muller has also directed commercials for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Coca-Cola, and Samsung. Her work has been featured at numerous film festivals including Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity and Clio Awards. In addition to her commercial work, she has also directed several short films including The Last Day (2008) which won Best Short Film at the Raindance Film Festival.
Muller continues to be a sought-after director and photographer whose work is admired by many. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
