Sophie Auster

Sophie Auster is an American singer-songwriter, photographer, and actress. Born in New York City in 1986, she is the daughter of renowned authors Paul Auster and Siri Hustvedt. She began her career as a musician at the age of 15, releasing her debut album Room to Run in 2003. Her music has been described as a mix of folk, jazz, and pop influences.

In addition to her musical career, Sophie Auster has also established herself as a successful photographer. She has exhibited her work in galleries around the world and published several books of photography. Her work often focuses on themes of identity and self-expression, exploring the relationship between people and their environment.

Auster has also appeared in several films and television shows throughout her career. She made her acting debut in the 2006 film The Inner Life of Martin Frost alongside David Thewlis and Irène Jacob. She has since appeared in films such as The Education of Charlie Banks (2007) and The Good Heart (2009). In 2020 she starred alongside Robert De Niro in the Netflix film The War with Grandpa.

Sophie Auster continues to pursue both music and photography today. She released her fifth studio album Night Songs in 2019 to critical acclaim, while also continuing to exhibit her photography around the world.
