Shawn Brackbill is an award-winning photographer and director based in New York City. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music, fashion, and film, including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift.
Brackbill was born in Philadelphia and grew up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania. He attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he studied photography and film. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue a career as a professional photographer.
Brackbill quickly established himself as one of the most sought-after photographers in the industry. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Rolling Stone, GQ, and The New York Times Magazine. He has also directed music videos for artists like The Killers and Florence + The Machine.
In addition to his commercial work, Brackbill is also an avid fine art photographer. His work has been exhibited at galleries around the world including The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and The Photographers’ Gallery in London. In 2017 he was awarded a Lucie Award for his fine art photography series “The American West” which explored themes of identity and belonging within rural America.
Brackbill continues to push boundaries with his photography by exploring new mediums such as virtual reality (VR). In 2018 he released his first VR project “The Sun Ladies” which tells the story of a group of female Yazidi fighters who are fighting against ISIS forces in Iraq.
