Sharon Lockhart is an American photographer and filmmaker whose work focuses on the intersection of art, politics, and everyday life. Born in 1964 in Norwood, Massachusetts, Lockhart grew up in a family of photographers and filmmakers. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned her BFA in photography in 1986.

Lockhart's work has been exhibited widely throughout the United States and Europe, including solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Her photographs have also been featured in numerous publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, and Harper's Bazaar.

In addition to her photography work, Lockhart has directed several films including Goshogaoka (1996), Pine Flat (2005), Podwórka (2009), Lunch Break (2012), and Noa Eshkol (2014). Her films have been screened at festivals around the world including Cannes Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and Berlin International Film Festival.

Lockhart is currently a professor at UCLA's School of Theater Film & Television where she teaches courses on photography and filmmaking. She lives with her husband and two children in Los Angeles.
