Sayaka Maruyama is a Japanese photographer and visual artist based in Tokyo. She is best known for her surreal and dreamlike images that explore the relationship between nature and humanity.

Maruyama was born in Tokyo in 1982, and began her career as a photographer in 2006. She studied photography at the Tokyo Visual Arts College, where she developed an interest in exploring the boundaries between reality and fantasy. After graduating, she began to experiment with digital manipulation techniques to create her signature surreal images.

Maruyama's work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, the International Center of Photography in New York City, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Her photographs have also been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue Japan, Harper's Bazaar Japan, and The New York Times Magazine.

In addition to her photography work, Maruyama has also collaborated with fashion designers such as Issey Miyake and Comme des Garçons on various projects. She has also directed music videos for Japanese pop stars such as Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru.
