Santiago Albanell is a Spanish photographer and visual artist based in Barcelona. He has been working in the field of photography for over 20 years, and his work has been featured in numerous publications, exhibitions, and festivals around the world.
Born in Barcelona in 1975, Santiago began his career as a photographer at an early age. He studied photography at the Escola de Fotografia de Barcelona and later went on to pursue a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. After graduating, he worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers before eventually establishing his own studio.
Throughout his career, Santiago has focused on capturing moments of everyday life with an eye for detail and composition. His work often features people from different backgrounds and cultures, exploring themes such as identity, memory, and belonging. He has traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America to capture unique images that tell stories about the places he visits.
Santiago's work has been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, The Photographers' Gallery in London, The International Center of Photography in New York City, The Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City, and many more. His photographs have also been featured in publications such as National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Time Magazine, Vogue Italia, El Pais Magazine among others.
In addition to his photographic work Santiago is also an active member of several international organizations dedicated to promoting photography such as Photographers Without Borders (PWB) and World Press Photo (WPP). He is also a founding member of the collective “Fotografos sin Fronteras” which works to promote photography education among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Santiago continues to travel around the world capturing unique images that tell stories about our shared humanity while inspiring others to explore their own creativity through photography.
