About

Ruben de Wilde is a Dutch photographer and filmmaker based in Amsterdam. He is best known for his documentary-style photography, which often focuses on social issues and the human condition.

De Wilde was born in Amsterdam in 1985 and grew up in a creative family. His father was a painter and his mother was a sculptor, so he was exposed to art from an early age. He began taking photographs at the age of 12, and by the time he was 16 he had already developed an interest in documentary photography.

In 2006, de Wilde graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague with a degree in photography. After graduation, he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, TIME Magazine, and The Guardian.

In 2010, de Wilde released his first book of photographs titled “The Human Condition” which focused on social issues such as poverty, homelessness, and inequality. The book received critical acclaim and won several awards including the Dutch Doc Award for Best Photography Book of the Year.

In addition to his photographic work, de Wilde has also directed several short films that have been screened at film festivals around the world. He has also collaborated with various charities to help raise awareness about social issues through his work.

De Wilde continues to travel around the world capturing powerful images that tell stories about people’s lives and experiences. His work has been exhibited internationally including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and Tate Modern in London.
