Rodney Evans is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker based in New York City. He has been capturing the beauty of the world through his lens for over two decades.

Evans was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in a family of photographers. His father was a professional photographer and his mother was an amateur photographer. From a young age, Evans was exposed to the art of photography and developed a passion for it.

He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he earned his BFA in Photography and Film. After graduating, he began working as a freelance photographer for various publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic.

In addition to his commercial work, Evans has also created several personal projects that explore themes such as identity, race, gender, sexuality, and culture. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and the International Center of Photography (ICP) in London.

Evans has won numerous awards for his photography including the Lucie Award for Documentary Photographer of the Year (2015), PDN 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch (2016), and PDN Photo Annual Award (2017). He is also a recipient of grants from organizations such as The Ford Foundation and The MacArthur Foundation.

Evans continues to create powerful images that capture moments of beauty and truth around the world. His work is an exploration into humanity’s shared experiences that transcends boundaries of race, gender, class, sexuality, religion, nationality or any other label that society places on us.
