Rocco Laspata is an award-winning photographer and director based in New York City. He has been shooting professionally since the early 1990s, and his work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, GQ, Vanity Fair, and Harper’s Bazaar.
Laspata was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1971. He attended the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan where he studied photography and film. After graduating, he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and advertising campaigns. His work quickly gained recognition for its unique style and composition.
In addition to his commercial work, Laspata has also created several personal projects over the years. These include a series of photographs of New York City street life called “The Streets of New York” (1995) and a series of portraits of celebrities called “Faces” (1998). He has also directed several music videos for artists such as Moby and The Fugees.
In recent years, Laspata has become increasingly involved with fashion photography. He has shot campaigns for brands such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Calvin Klein. His work is known for its bold use of color and light to create striking images that capture the essence of each brand’s aesthetic.
Laspata’s work has been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. In 2020 he was awarded the Lucie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Photography.
