Rafa Arroyo is a Spanish photographer and visual artist based in Madrid. He has been working in the field of photography for over 20 years, and his work has been featured in numerous publications, exhibitions, and festivals around the world.
Rafa was born in Madrid in 1975 and grew up surrounded by art and culture. His father was a painter, and his mother was a sculptor, so it's no surprise that Rafa developed an interest in art from an early age. He began taking photographs at the age of 15, and soon after he enrolled at the School of Arts & Crafts in Madrid to study photography.
After graduating from school, Rafa began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work quickly gained recognition for its unique style and composition. He has since become known for his ability to capture moments of beauty and emotion with his camera.
In addition to his commercial work, Rafa also creates personal projects that explore themes such as identity, memory, nature, and urban life. His photographs have been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, Spain; The Photographers' Gallery in London; The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; The International Center of Photography in New York City; and many more.
Rafa's work has also been featured in numerous publications including National Geographic Magazine, Vogue Magazine, El Pais Newspaper, The New York Times Magazine, GQ Magazine, Harper's Bazaar Magazine, among others. He has also won several awards including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Best Documentary Series (2015), the Sony World Photography Award (2016), and the Hasselblad Masters Award (2017).
