Quil Lemons is a photographer, artist, and creative director based in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his vibrant and colorful portraiture that celebrates the beauty of Blackness.
Lemons was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in a creative household. His mother was an artist and his father was a musician, so he was exposed to art from an early age. He attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he studied photography and graphic design. After graduating, he moved to New York City to pursue his career as a photographer.
Lemons has worked with some of the biggest names in fashion including Nike, Adidas, Vogue Magazine, and GQ Magazine. His work has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Fader, Dazed & Confused Magazine, and i-D Magazine. He has also collaborated with celebrities such as Rihanna and Solange Knowles on various projects.
In addition to his commercial work, Lemons is also passionate about creating art that celebrates Black culture and identity. His work often features people of color in powerful poses that challenge traditional notions of beauty. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world including at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
Lemons’ work has been praised for its ability to capture both beauty and strength while celebrating diversity within the African diaspora. He continues to push boundaries with his photography by creating images that are both visually stunning and socially conscious.
