Pier Nicola Bruno is an Italian photographer and visual artist based in Milan. He has been working in the field of photography since the early 2000s, and his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications around the world.
Bruno was born in Milan, Italy, in 1978. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, where he graduated with honors in 2003. After graduating, he began to work as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italia, GQ Italia, Elle Italia, Marie Claire Italia, and many others.
In addition to his editorial work, Bruno has also created several personal projects that explore themes such as identity and memory. His series “The Memory of a Place” (2005) was exhibited at the Palazzo Reale di Milano and won him the prestigious “Premio Celeste” award for best photographic project of the year. In 2008 he was awarded a grant from the Italian Ministry of Culture to create a series of photographs exploring the theme of immigration. The resulting project “The Journey” was exhibited at several galleries throughout Italy and Europe.
Bruno’s work has been exhibited internationally at venues such as The Photographers' Gallery (London), The Museum of Contemporary Art (Rome), The National Museum of Photography (Stockholm), The International Center for Photography (New York), and many others. His photographs have also been included in numerous books on photography including “Italian Photography Now” (Phaidon Press) and “Contemporary Italian Photography” (Skira).
In addition to his photographic practice, Bruno is also an active member of several cultural associations including Fondazione Fotografia Modena and Associazione Culturale Fotografia Contemporanea Milano. He currently lives and works in Milan where he continues to explore themes related to identity through his photography.
