Phyllicia Wang is an award-winning photographer and visual artist based in New York City. She has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Phyllicia developed a passion for photography at an early age. She attended the School of Visual Arts where she earned her BFA in Photography. After graduating, she worked as a freelance photographer for various publications before launching her own studio.
Phyllicia's work focuses on capturing intimate moments between people and exploring themes of identity, culture, and belonging. She has traveled extensively to capture stories from around the world, including India, China, Mexico, and Cuba. Her photographs have been featured in numerous books and magazines as well as on television shows such as NBC's "The Voice" and ABC's "The Bachelor."
In addition to her photography career, Phyllicia is also an active member of the art community. She serves on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations that promote art education for underserved communities. She also teaches workshops at various institutions throughout New York City.
Phyllicia's work has been recognized with numerous awards including a Lucie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Fine Art Photography (2020) and a PDN 30 Award (2018). Her photographs have been acquired by major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).
