Paul Kooiker is a Dutch photographer known for his surreal and dreamlike images. Born in Rotterdam in 1964, Kooiker studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he graduated with a degree in photography in 1989.
Kooiker's work often features everyday objects and scenes that are transformed into something unexpected and surreal. He has been described as a "visual storyteller," creating images that evoke a sense of mystery and wonder. His photographs have been exhibited widely throughout Europe, including at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Fotomuseum Den Haag, and the Foam Photography Museum in Amsterdam.
Kooiker's work has also been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Vogue Italia. He has won several awards for his photography, including the Dutch Doc Award for Best Documentary Photography (2009) and the Prix de Rome (2012).
