Omar Victor Diop is a Senegalese photographer and visual artist whose work explores the African diaspora and its relationship to the West. Born in Dakar, Senegal in 1980, Diop was raised in a family of artists and intellectuals. He studied law at Cheikh Anta Diop University before pursuing a career in photography.

Diop's work has been exhibited around the world, including at the Brooklyn Museum, the Centre Pompidou, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. His photographs often feature African models dressed in traditional clothing or contemporary fashion, exploring themes of identity and representation. He has also created several series of portraits of prominent African figures such as Nelson Mandela and Frantz Fanon.

In addition to his photography, Diop is also an accomplished filmmaker. His short films have been screened at festivals such as Cannes and Sundance, and he has directed several music videos for African artists. He is also an active member of the Dakar-based collective Les Photographes de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (PAD).

Diop's work has earned him numerous awards including the Prix Pictet Photography Prize (2015) and the Grand Prix Afrique en Creation (2016). He currently lives and works in Dakar, Senegal.
