Nikolay Biryukov is a Russian photographer and visual artist who has been capturing the beauty of his homeland for over two decades. Born in Moscow in 1975, he developed an early interest in photography and began taking pictures of his family and friends at a young age.

He studied photography at the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, graduating with honors in 1998. After graduation, he worked as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers, including the Russian edition of National Geographic. His work has been featured in numerous publications around the world, including The New York Times Magazine, Time Magazine, and The Guardian.

In addition to his editorial work, Nikolay has also created several personal projects that explore the culture and landscape of Russia. His series “The Russian Soul” captures the spirit of everyday life in rural Russia through intimate portraits of people living in small villages. He also created “The White Nights” project which documents the beauty of St Petersburg during its summer months when days are long and nights are short.

Nikolay’s work has been exhibited internationally at galleries such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, The Photographers' Gallery in London, and The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow. He has also received numerous awards for his photography including the World Press Photo Award (2006) and the Hasselblad Masters Award (2008).

Today Nikolay continues to capture stunning images from around Russia while also teaching workshops on photography to aspiring photographers. He is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others so that they can create their own unique visions through photography.
