Nicola Formichetti is an Italian-Japanese fashion designer, stylist, and photographer. He is best known for his work as the creative director of Diesel from 2013 to 2016 and as the fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan from 2005 to 2013.
Formichetti was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1979 to an Italian father and a Japanese mother. He studied at the London College of Fashion before moving to Paris in 2001 to pursue a career in fashion. In 2005, he was appointed as the fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan, where he worked until 2013. During this time, he also collaborated with Lady Gaga on her music videos and costumes for her tours.
In 2013, Formichetti was appointed as the creative director of Diesel, where he worked until 2016. During his tenure at Diesel, he created several successful campaigns that helped revitalize the brand’s image. He also collaborated with several high-profile celebrities such as Nicki Minaj and Rihanna on various projects.
In addition to his work in fashion design and styling, Formichetti is also an accomplished photographer. His photography has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italia and Harper’s Bazaar UK. He has also shot campaigns for brands such as Nike and Adidas.
Formichetti currently lives in New York City where he continues to work on various projects related to fashion design and photography.
