Matthieu Salvaing is a French photographer and visual artist based in Paris. He has been working in the field of photography since the early 2000s, and his work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world.

Salvaing's work is characterized by its focus on the human condition, often exploring themes of identity, memory, and mortality. His photographs are often composed of multiple layers, creating a sense of depth and complexity that reflects his own personal journey. He has also explored themes such as urban landscapes, nature, and architecture.

Salvaing's work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Le Monde, and Vogue Italia. He has also exhibited his work at galleries such as Galerie des Bains Douches in Paris and Galerie du Jour Agnès B in Tokyo. In addition to his photographic practice, Salvaing is also an active member of the French art collective Les Rencontres d'Arles.

Salvaing's work has earned him numerous awards including the Prix de la Photographie de Paris (PX3) in 2011 and 2012; the Prix du Livre Photo at Les Rencontres d'Arles in 2013; and the Prix du Livre Photo at Les Rencontres d'Arles in 2014. He was also awarded a fellowship from the French Ministry of Culture for his project "The Memory of Time" which was exhibited at La Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris.

In addition to his photographic practice, Salvaing is also an active member of several organizations dedicated to promoting photography including Photographers Without Borders (PWB), which he co-founded with fellow photographer Jean-François Rauzier. He is also a founding member of Collectif Jeune Cinema (CJC), an organization dedicated to promoting young filmmakers from around the world.
