Mateusz Stankiewicz is a Polish photographer and visual artist based in Warsaw. He is best known for his unique approach to photography, which combines elements of documentary and fine art.
Stankiewicz was born in 1988 in Warsaw, Poland. He studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, graduating with a degree in Photography and Visual Arts in 2012. After graduation, he began working as a freelance photographer, shooting for various magazines and newspapers.
In 2014, Stankiewicz released his first book of photographs titled “The City of Light” which featured images from his travels around Europe. The book was well-received by critics and won several awards including the Grand Prix at the International Photography Festival in Lodz, Poland.
Since then, Stankiewicz has continued to work as a freelance photographer while also exhibiting his work around the world. His photographs have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions including at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the National Museum of Photography in Poznan. In addition to his photographic work, he has also created video installations that have been exhibited at galleries across Europe.
Stankiewicz’s work is characterized by its unique blend of documentary and fine art photography that captures everyday life with an eye for detail and beauty.
