Graduating from the RMIT BA Photography course in 2011, she was awarded the ACMP Student
Photographer for her series 'Nudes’, before being titled Capture Magazine’s Australia’s Top Emerging
Photographer the following year. Sani's secret airport portraits titled 'A.M.' have also been published on
Picture Dept, a blog run by Newsweek and Daily Beast photo editors.
Her delicate aesthetic paired with unsettling emotional undertones suggests a quiet desire to bring to
surface the complexities of humanity – a lifelong fascination.
Drawing on a mixed cultural heritage, Sani’s work often features themes of selective memory and isolated
identity, inspired by an ever-evolving sense of self as a young adult.
Although the approach to her images is very controlled, she believes that the real beauty of photographing
people is their unpredictably unique interactions with herself and the camera.
