Malina Corpadean is a Romanian-born photographer and visual artist based in New York City. She is best known for her vibrant, surrealistic images that explore the relationship between the human body and nature.
Corpadean was born in Romania in 1985 and moved to the United States at the age of 16. She studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she graduated with a BFA in 2008. After graduating, she began working as a freelance photographer and has since worked with numerous publications including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and The New York Times Magazine.
Corpadean’s work has been exhibited internationally at galleries such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Her photographs have also been featured in several books including “The Human Body: A Photographic Exploration” (2009) and “The Art of Malina Corpadean” (2012).
In addition to her photography work, Corpadean is also an accomplished painter and sculptor. Her paintings often feature abstracted figures that explore themes of identity and transformation. Her sculptures are often inspired by nature and incorporate found objects such as stones or driftwood.
Corpadean currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York where she continues to create art that challenges traditional notions of beauty while exploring themes of identity and transformation.
