Lucas Freitas is a Brazilian photographer and visual artist based in São Paulo. He has been working in the field of photography since 2009, when he graduated from the University of São Paulo with a degree in Visual Arts.

Freitas’ work focuses on the exploration of identity and memory, often through the use of portraiture and documentary photography. His photographs have been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, the International Center for Photography in New York City, and the Photographers’ Gallery in London.

In addition to his photographic work, Freitas is also an active member of several organizations dedicated to promoting photography as an art form. He is a founding member of Fotoativa, a collective that works to promote Brazilian photography internationally, and he has served as a mentor for several young photographers through his involvement with FotoRio, an organization that provides educational opportunities for aspiring photographers.

Freitas’ work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including being named one of Brazil’s top 10 photographers by Photo Magazine in 2016. He has also been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic. His photographs have been exhibited at galleries around the world, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro and The Photographers’ Gallery in London.
