Liesbeth Abbenes is a Dutch photographer and visual artist based in Amsterdam. She is known for her unique and captivating images that explore the relationship between people and their environment.

Abbenes was born in the Netherlands in 1975, and began her career as a photographer in the early 2000s. She studied photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where she developed her signature style of combining documentary photography with fine art elements.

Abbenes has exhibited her work internationally, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. Her work has also been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, Vogue Italia, and The Guardian.

In addition to her photographic practice, Abbenes is also an active member of the Dutch art community. She has served as a mentor for young photographers through organizations such as World Press Photo and Unseen Amsterdam. She is also a founding member of the Dutch Photographers Association (DPN).

Abbenes’ work often focuses on themes of identity, memory, and place. Through her photographs she seeks to capture moments that are both intimate and universal – moments that speak to our shared humanity.
