Koto Bolofo is a South African-born photographer and filmmaker who has been capturing the world through his lens for over three decades. He is best known for his fashion photography, which has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Vanity Fair.
Bolofo was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1962. He moved to London at the age of 18 to pursue a career in photography. After studying at the London College of Printing, he began working as an assistant to renowned fashion photographer David Bailey. Bolofo then went on to work with other notable photographers such as Helmut Newton and Irving Penn.
In the early 1990s, Bolofo began shooting for magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. His work quickly gained recognition and he was soon shooting for some of the world's most prestigious fashion houses including Chanel, Dior, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. His photographs have also been featured in numerous books including Koto Bolofo: A Visual Diary (2002) and Koto Bolofo: The Art of Seeing (2005).
