Ka Xiaoxi is a Chinese photographer and visual artist based in Beijing. She is best known for her work exploring the relationship between people and their environment, often through the lens of urban life.

Ka Xiaoxi was born in Beijing in 1988. She studied photography at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011. After graduation, she began to explore her own creative practice, focusing on documentary photography and portraiture. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Shanghai and the International Center of Photography in New York City.

In addition to her photographic practice, Ka Xiaoxi has also worked as a curator and educator. She has curated exhibitions for institutions such as the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing and taught workshops at universities across China. In 2017, she was awarded a fellowship from the Magnum Foundation to pursue her project “The City’s Memory” which explored how people interact with their environment through photography.

Ka Xiaoxi’s work has been widely praised for its ability to capture both beauty and complexity within urban life. Her photographs have been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and TIME Magazine. In 2020, she was named one of Forbes China’s 30 Under 30 list for her contributions to contemporary art and culture.
