Jürgen Teller is a German photographer and artist known for his provocative and often controversial images. Born in Erlangen, Germany in 1964, Teller studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich before moving to London in 1986.
Teller's work is characterized by its raw, unvarnished aesthetic and its often confrontational approach to subject matter. His photographs have been featured in numerous publications, including Vogue, The Face, i-D Magazine, and The New York Times Magazine. He has also collaborated with fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood on campaigns and editorial projects.
In addition to his commercial work, Teller has also produced several books of photography including Go-Sees (1995), Céline (1998), Jürgen Teller: Woo! (2002), Jürgen Teller: Nackig (2005), Jürgen Teller: Viereck (2008) and Jürgen Teller: Let's Make Money (2010). His work has been exhibited widely throughout Europe and the United States. In 2013 he was awarded the prestigious Hasselblad Award for his contributions to photography.
Teller continues to push boundaries with his work, exploring themes of identity, sexuality, gender roles, consumerism and celebrity culture. He currently lives and works in London.
