Jason Wu is a Taiwanese-Canadian fashion designer and photographer based in New York City. He is best known for his eponymous fashion label, which he founded in 2007. His designs have been worn by celebrities such as Michelle Obama, Blake Lively, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Wu was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1982. He moved to Vancouver, Canada with his family at the age of nine. He attended the University of British Columbia where he studied sculpture and architecture before transferring to Parsons School of Design in New York City. After graduating from Parsons in 2006, Wu launched his own fashion label.
Wu's designs have been featured on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and have been worn by celebrities on the red carpet at events such as the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. In 2009, Wu was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People.
In addition to his work as a fashion designer, Wu has also pursued photography since 2011. His work has been featured in publications such as Vogue China and Elle China and has been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and The National Arts Club in New York City.
Wu currently lives and works in New York City where he continues to design for his eponymous label while pursuing photography projects around the world.
