Ilya Vartanyan is a Russian photographer and visual artist based in Moscow. He is best known for his unique style of photography, which combines elements of documentary, fashion, and fine art.
Vartanyan began his career as a photographer in the early 2000s, working with various magazines and publications. His work has been featured in numerous publications such as Vogue Russia, GQ Russia, Esquire Russia, and Harper's Bazaar Russia. He has also worked with many international brands such as Nike, Adidas, and Samsung.
In addition to his commercial work, Vartanyan has also created several personal projects that explore themes of identity and belonging. His series “The Other Side” was exhibited at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art in 2017 and received critical acclaim for its exploration of the complexities of life in modern-day Russia.
Vartanyan’s work has been recognized by numerous awards including the International Photography Awards (IPA) in 2018 and 2019. He was also named one of the top 10 photographers to watch by British Journal of Photography in 2019.
