Hype Williams is an American photographer, music video director, and film director. He is best known for his work in the music video industry, having directed videos for some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B.

Williams was born in New York City in 1971. He grew up in the Bronx and attended the High School of Art & Design. After graduating, he began working as a freelance photographer for various magazines and newspapers. His work caught the attention of record labels, which led to him directing music videos for artists such as Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Nas, and Busta Rhymes.

Williams' work has been praised for its innovative visuals and unique style. He has won numerous awards for his music videos, including MTV Video Music Awards and BET Awards. In addition to his work in music videos, Williams has also directed feature films such as Belly (1998) and One Night Stand (1997).
