Hormis Antony Tharakan is an award-winning Indian photographer and filmmaker. He is best known for his work in documentary photography, which has been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions around the world.

Born in Kerala, India, Hormis was raised in a family of photographers. His father was a professional photographer and his mother was an amateur photographer. From a young age, Hormis was exposed to the art of photography and developed a passion for it. He studied photography at the Government College of Fine Arts in Thrissur, India, where he graduated with honors.

After college, Hormis began working as a freelance photographer and filmmaker. He has traveled extensively throughout India and abroad to capture stunning images of people and places. His work has been featured in publications such as National Geographic Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Time Magazine, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, and many more.

Hormis has also exhibited his work at various galleries around the world including the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo; the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; and the International Center for Photography in New York City. In addition to his photographic work, Hormis has also directed several short films that have been screened at film festivals around the world.

Hormis’s work has earned him numerous awards including the National Award for Photography from India’s Ministry of Culture; the Kodak Gold Award from Kodak India; and several awards from international photography competitions such as World Press Photo Awards and Sony World Photography Awards.

Hormis continues to travel around the world capturing stunning images that tell stories about people’s lives and cultures. His work is an inspiration to aspiring photographers everywhere who strive to capture meaningful moments through their lens.
