Harley Weir is a British photographer and filmmaker based in London. She is best known for her fashion photography, which has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Dazed & Confused, and i-D.
Weir was born in London in 1989 and grew up in the city's East End. She studied photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, graduating with a BA in 2011. After graduating, she began working as a freelance photographer for publications such as Vice and The Guardian.
In 2013, Weir was commissioned by i-D magazine to shoot their "Generation" issue, which featured emerging talent from around the world. This marked the beginning of her career as a fashion photographer, and she has since shot campaigns for brands such as Nike, Adidas, Burberry, and Calvin Klein. Her work has been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Tate Modern in London and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
Weir has also directed music videos for artists such as FKA Twigs and The xx. In 2017 she released her first feature film "The Last Tree", which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival to critical acclaim.
Weir's work is characterized by its raw energy and intimate portraiture of youth culture. Her photographs often explore themes of identity, gender roles, sexuality, and youth culture with an eye for detail that captures both beauty and vulnerability.
