Hailun Ma is a Chinese-born photographer based in New York City. She is known for her vibrant and colorful images that capture the beauty of everyday life.

Ma was born in Beijing, China, and moved to the United States when she was 18 years old. She studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where she graduated with a BFA in Photography. After graduating, Ma began working as a freelance photographer for various publications and brands.

Ma's work has been featured in numerous publications including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and The New York Times Magazine. Her photographs have also been exhibited at galleries around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Ma's work focuses on capturing moments of beauty and joy that are often overlooked or forgotten. She has traveled extensively throughout Asia to document traditional cultures and lifestyles that are quickly disappearing due to modernization. Her photographs often feature bright colors and vivid details that bring her subjects to life.

In addition to her photography career, Ma is also an active member of the Asian American community in New York City. She is a board member of the Asian American Arts Alliance and has served as a mentor for young photographers through organizations such as The Laundromat Project and The Bronx Documentary Center.

Ma's work has been recognized with numerous awards including the International Photography Award (IPA) for Best Documentary Series (2018) and PDN 30 Emerging Photographers (2019). Her photographs have also been featured in several books including "The World Through My Eyes" (2018) and "The Beauty of Life" (2020).
