Georgia Hilmer is an American photographer and visual artist based in New York City. She is best known for her vibrant, surrealist images that explore themes of identity, gender, and sexuality.
Hilmer was born in Los Angeles, California in 1989. She grew up surrounded by art and creativity, as her mother was a painter and her father a sculptor. From an early age, she was drawn to photography as a way to express herself and capture the world around her.
Hilmer attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City where she earned her BFA in Photography in 2011. After graduating, she began working as a freelance photographer for various publications including Vogue, Nylon Magazine, and The New York Times Magazine.
In 2014, Hilmer released her first book of photographs titled "The Unseen". The book featured images from her travels around the world as well as portraits of friends and family members. Her work has since been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and the Tate Modern in London.
Hilmer's work has been praised for its unique vision and ability to capture intimate moments with a dreamlike quality. Her photographs often explore themes of identity, gender roles, sexuality, and relationships between people.
