Geneviève Charbonneau is a Canadian photographer and visual artist based in Montreal, Quebec. She has been taking photographs since the age of 15 and has since developed a unique style that combines elements of documentary photography, portraiture, and fine art.
Geneviève's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, including at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toronto. Her photographs have also been published in magazines such as The New Yorker, The Guardian, and National Geographic.
In addition to her photographic work, Geneviève is also an active member of the Montreal arts community. She is a founding member of the collective Les Femmes Photographiques and serves on the board of directors for Dazibao Centre de Photographie Contemporaine. She is also a mentor for emerging photographers through her organization PhotoMentor.
Geneviève's work focuses on themes such as identity, memory, and place. Her photographs often explore how people interact with their environment and how they are shaped by their experiences. Through her images she seeks to capture moments that are both intimate and universal.
